Cloute installs ProGuard gutter guards on homes in Fort Atkinson, Madison, and the surrounding areas. ProGuard, sometimes called a gutter cover, lets water into your gutters and keeps leaves, pine needles, and other debris out. Tired of climbing the ladder every fall to scoop out wet leaves? Call us for a free quote and to see a ProGuard sample.
ProGuard is built in two layers. The base is 18-gauge expanded metal with a powder-coated finish that won’t rust, and a fine aluminum mesh screen sits over the top for double protection against leaves.
Leaves, seeds, pine needles, pine cones, and other debris rest on top of ProGuard’s hard metal surface instead of falling into your gutter. Air moves above, below, and around that debris, so it dries out and blows away in the wind. Meanwhile, water passes through the screen and into your gutter, even in heavy rains, which helps keep it from spilling over onto your landscaping.
The openings in the mesh are only about 50 microns wide. Pine needles won’t stick into the screen, and even shingle grit can’t get through. Only water can.
We clean a lot of gutters, and that includes gutters that already have other kinds of guards on them. Here’s what we’ve found with other common styles:

A. ProGuard is made for four-season protection, but gutter guards aren’t built to prevent ice dams. Ice dams typically form when heat escaping into the attic warms part of the roof, melting snow that refreezes near the colder eaves. If ice dams are already a problem, we offer ice dam removal on roofs in winter as part of our roof and gutter cleaning service.
